Yehuda Beniste

Life and remembrance

Yehuda Beniste had been a manager at Safra Bank in Beirut. He was the father of Youssef and Ibrahim, whose names also appear on this wall—a family marked three times by the same campaign.

Schulze records that Yehuda and Ibrahim were taken on 15 February 1986. The captors announced on 12 January 1987 that Yehuda had been executed, but the narrative does not establish a precise date or recovery of his body.

Kirsten E. Schulze attributes the campaign to the Organization of the Oppressed of the Earth, a group that claimed links with Hizb'allah. Contemporary accounts differ on some dates, occupations, spellings, and the fate of individual victims; those differences are preserved rather than silently resolved.
